License
A license grants the right to use the paid version on one site. Subdomains of the licensed domain are covered automatically.
The license is perpetual: you buy once and use it for as many years as you like. The purchase includes one year of updates and support — that is the only thing here with a term, and its end switches nothing off. What the paid version actually adds is on the Free and PRO page.
Activation
You do not have to name your domain when buying.
The key goes into the package install window, not into a setting afterwards:
- Buy a license — you receive an
api_key. - Install the paid package: Extras → Installer. The install window has a Customer API key field — paste the key there.
- Open the constructor — the paid features are there.
Nothing else to do: the license binds itself to the current domain.
You skipped the field in the window
Install the package again and paste the key. Reinstalling does not harm your data: blocks, tables, fields and their contents stay where they are.
The free package has no such field
And cannot have one: it carries no paid code at all, so there is nowhere for a key to land — the field would promise what is physically absent from that package. How to move to the paid one — Installation.
The paid tabs still did not open
This is not something settings on your side will fix. Write to Telegram or 📧 help@pageblocks.pro — tell us the domain and your order number and we will sort it out.
Development hosts
On a development host no license is required, no banner is shown, and the component does not go to the network at all:
localhost,127.0.0.1,::1and any bare IP;- names with no dot —
myprojectfrom/etc/hosts; - the zones
.local,.test,.localhost,.example,.invalid,.internal; *.ddev.site,*.lndo.site,*.nip.io,*.sslip.io,*.vcap.me.
A www. prefix is stripped — that is the same site, not a second one.
The .dev and .loc zones are not on the list
.dev is a real public top-level domain with enforced HTTPS, so it cannot be treated as a development host. If your local site is on .dev or .loc, rename it to .test or .local.
What happens when the key does not match
This is about a site with no license for the domain it runs on. Two cases, and both show up at once:
| What the banner says | When |
|---|---|
| No license for this domain | no key pasted, or it cannot be read |
| The license was issued for another domain | the site moved, or it was copied |
The second case usually means a copy: the site directory was moved to a new domain together with its database, the key came along, but it is signed for the old host — and the domain inside it cannot be rewritten.
The paid features switch off immediately. There is no trial window: the component drops to the free edition that same minute. The paid tabs get a padlock and paid requests are refused — exactly as in the free build.
Saving in the manager switches off immediately too. There is no grace period: while the key is missing the component writes nothing — no blocks, no tables, no fields. Your data is intact, visible, and can still be read and exported, but it cannot be changed and saved.
The front end of the site is never touched. A site broken over a license is not a sensible way to protect a component, and your visitor is no party to your arrangement with us. Pages built on paid features keep being served.
How to get the paid features back
Paste the key on this domain and both the paid tabs and saving come back by themselves — nothing to restore. The key goes into the install window: Extras → Installer, install the package again. The installer is a MODX manager page, which the saving block does not touch, so you cannot lock yourself out. Moved to a new domain — see Moving to another domain. If the key is in place and the banner will not go away, write to us; there is no point hunting through settings on your side.
Our server being down is not your problem
If the license server is unreachable, or the host has no ext-sodium, that reads as "license is fine" and the paid features stay. Protection that fails closed hits the paying customer, not the people we are protecting against.
Moving to another domain
Install the component on the new domain and paste the same key into the install window — the license binds itself to the new host.
The old domain stays occupied: the limit is one site, and freeing it is deliberately not something the component can do, or "deploy, hand over, free it, next one" would work forever. A human does the unbinding: write to Telegram or 📧 help@pageblocks.pro.
Unbinding frees the slot, and that is all it does — up to twice in any 365 days. Two covers the honest case with room to spare: a real move happens once in several years, and the second one is there because anybody can release the wrong domain.
It does not switch the old site off
There is nothing to switch off with. The key is signed and checked offline, its domain cannot be rewritten, and no copy of it can be revoked after the fact — so an install that already has the key keeps working. What the unbinding changes is the count on our side: the slot comes free and the next domain can take it.
What you pay for, if the license is perpetual
Support and updates, not a year of using the component. The year of updates and support counts from the day of purchase; when it ends the component keeps working on the same domain for as long as you need — there will simply be no new releases and no answers to your questions until support is renewed. Versions released while your year was running stay yours: a missed update can still be installed afterwards. There are no subscriptions and no auto-renewal.
That is where a pirated copy breaks down: it freezes on the version of the day it was taken and goes nowhere.
