A single-line input — the default choice for anything short: a heading, a name, a link.

Settings:

Setting	What it does
Prefix	Fixed text glued to the left of the input
Suffix	The same on the right
Placeholder	Grey hint inside an empty input
Width	Share of the row, in percent
Default	What a new record starts with
Required	An empty value blocks saving

Prefix and suffix exist so units do not end up inside the value: kg, m2, a currency sign. They are drawn beside the input and are not part of what gets saved.

The component treats this field as prose

Text is one of the four types offered to the translators, and the moderation queue builds a row's title from it. For an article number or a code that is the wrong bargain — a machine translation may rewrite it.
